Hanover Cottage has been renovated and updated in recent years to create a home that is suited to our modern lives whilst retaining character and original features. There's a large, fully equipped kitchen diner with Bosch appliances, a T.V and underfloor heating. This provides a perfect social space for dining and drinks together. A spacious and comfortable living room with Smart T.V offers more social space for our guests, alongside the adjoining conservatory. Guests can enjoy a view of the garden from the conservatory and access the patio area and lawns.


One of the bedrooms is on the ground-floor and a further 4 bedrooms are located on the first-floor. The ground-floor bedroom is ideal for guests who cannot manage the stairs or Grandparents seeking peace and quiet! It also has the convenience of a large bathroom just next door. On the first-floor you will find two bathrooms, one being ensuite and the other positioned between two of the bedrooms. There are 9 beds in total (1 king size and 8 single beds) that sleep 10 guests, with 2 in each room. 4 out of the 5 bedrooms can be set up as twin or double rooms, depending on your requirements.


We want our guests to have a great holiday and provide lots of items to ensure you have a hassle-free and home from home experience. Guests comment on how well-equipped the accommodation is and as a family friendly place we provide equipment such as high chairs, travel cots and baby monitors. We also have games, childrens books, buckets, spades and beach towels.


The house has ample outdoor space with enclosed gardens to the side and front of the house. With a patio table, seating and BBQ it is a perfect place for enjoying al fresco dining and drinks at any time of day.....weather permitting! The gardens also provide a great place for children to play and explore. Please be aware there are some steps in the garden and children will need to be supervised.


Whilst Hanover Cottage is not specifically built for wheelchair access, it may be suitable if you have restricted mobility as most of the ground-floor is on one level. Please call us to discuss your individual requirements and we will do our best to assist. You can view our access statement here:

Welcome to Hanover Cottage, an impressive, 5-bedroom house in the popular coastal resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire. Ideally located on Prospect Hill, you can reach Pannett Park, the town centre and the harbour in 5 minutes on foot and be on the beach in 10! Parking is not a problem as we have a private driveway right next to the property with room for 4 cars (plus additional private parking if needed). Hanover Cottage is an ideal place for friends and families to holiday together, whether it be for a week, a fortnight, a mid-week get away or a long-weekend. We can accommodate up to 10 guests and have created a comfortable and relaxing environment to ensure that you have an enjoyable holiday.


Having started life as a small cottage, Hanover Cottage was extended in Georgian and Victorian times to create the large, detached house that stands today. It is quite different to other properties in central Whitby as it has the advantage of lovely, established gardens to enjoy. You can spend time in the house, conservatory and garden or venture out and explore all that Whitby and has to offer. We advise our guests to walk into the town centre if possible, especially on a weekend, as parking can be sparse and quite expensive. However, there are buses and taxis available and the bus stops are close to the house.
