Hanover Cottage is a unique house with plenty of character and original period features, such as Victorian and Georgian fireplaces and wood sash windows. We have updated the property in the last few years and added a large, fully equipped kitchen diner, ground-floor family bathroom, first-floor ensuite bathroom and underfloor heating. We have also carried out work such as installing a new boiler and roof, aswell as damp proofing and insulating rooms. The kitchen diner now offers a great social space alongside the living room and traditional conservatory. Our ground-floor twin bedroom is adjacent to a spacious family bathrooom, making it perfect for guests who struggle with stairs. On the first-floor you will find a further four bedrooms plus two bathrooms, one being a full ensuite. There are 8 beds in total (1 king, 1 double and 6 single beds) to sleep a maximum of 10 guests. The 5th bedroom is slightly smaller and has a single bed with an additional pull-out single bed.
The house has ample outdoor space with beautifully established gardens to the side and front of the house. With a patio table, parasol, chairs and BBQ it is a perfect place for enjoying al fresco dining and drinks at any time of day! The gardens also provide a great place for children to play and explore and are fully enclosed by hedges and fences (plus the driveway has a 5-bar gate).
We do provide a lot of items to ensure you have a hassle-free and home from home experience. Good quality bed linen is provided along with mattress protectors, anti-allergy duvets, pillows, bath and hand towels. We have two travel cots and highchairs and a fold-away bed should you have any little people in your party. Gas, electricity, water and unlimited wifi are included. The house has gas central heating, underfloor heating in the kitchen and ground-floor bathroom and a constant supply of hot water. The traditional conservatory is not heated and is therefore not suitable for use in the Winter. We have garage storage for bikes and pushchairs if required, just ask us for a garage key when you arrive.

Welcome to Hanover Cottage, an impressive 5-bedroom, detached house in the popular coastal resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire.
We offer self-catering accommodation for up to 10 guests and provide everything needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Rather unusual for Whitby, the property has private driveway parking for 4 cars, a conservatory and beautiful gardens. You can reach the town centre by foot in 5 minutes and public transport is easily accessed nearby. It really is an ideal place for friends and families to holiday together. As it was previously our family home many guests comment on how homely and relaxing the house feels and that this sets it apart from other self-catering properties they have visited. We are assessed annually and are currently rated as a 4 Star establishment by Visit England with an additional Gold Award for hospitality and service.
There is so much to do in Whitby and there are many events held throughout the year. Stroll through Pannet Park on the way into town and visit the fantastic maritime themed adventure play area plus the museum and cafe. Visit the beaches, shops, pubs, eating places and many attractions such as Whitby Abbey. This is a beautiful area to explore and you can head inland to the many picturesque rural villages such as Goathland, Egton and Danby. Or take a trip along the Coast to smaller coastal resorts such as Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes.
You can stay for 7 nights or more from £170-£235 per night and our prices includes all utilities, wifi, bed linen and towels. Holidays generally start at 3pm on a Saturday in high season but arrival days are flexible at other times of the year. We do provide short breaks (a minimum booking of 3 nights) in mid and low season, however these cannot be booked more than 12 weeks in advance of the arrival date. Please check 'Availability' for short breaks and specific prices as we regularly update our calendar and add new dates. Please be aware that we do not accept pets at the property- sorry, not even well behaved ones!
