Hanover Cottage is a unique house with plenty of character and original features, such as Victorian and Georgian fireplaces and a servants bellboard-unfortunately no longer in use! It has been fully renovated in recent years including replacing the roof and installing double glazed sash windows and underfloor heating. We have added a large, fully equipped kitchen diner, utility room, ground-floor bedroom and family bathroom and first-floor ensuite bathroom. The kitchen diner offers a great social space alongside the living room and traditional conservatory and the rest of the house is easily accessible and suited to modern family living.

 

There are 8 beds in total (1 king, 1 double and 6 single beds) to sleep a maximum of 10 guests in the 5 bedrooms. Our ground-floor twin bedroom and adjacent large bathrooom are ideal for guests who struggle with stairs. On the first-floor you will find a further four bedrooms plus two bathrooms, one being a full ensuite.  Please note that the fifth bedroom is smaller and has a single bed with a pull-out trundle single bed, therefore it can be used either as a single or twin room. We can provide 2 travel cots and linen if you have any younger guests in your party (please request on booking).

 

The house has ample outdoor space with beautifully established gardens to the side and front of the house. With a patio table, parasol, chairs and BBQ it is a perfect place for enjoying al fresco dining and drinks at any time of day! The gardens also provide a great place for children to play and explore and are fully enclosed by hedges and fences (plus the driveway has a 5-bar gate). Please be aware there are some steps in the garden and young children will need to be supervised.

 

We do provide lots of items to ensure you have a hassle-free and home from home experience. Good quality bed linen is provided along with mattress protectors, anti-allergy duvets, pillows, bath and hand towels. We can provide highchairs, baby monitors and other items should you have any little people in your party (please see 'Items provided' for a full list). The house has gas central heating and a constant supply of hot water. Unfortunately the traditional conservatory is not heated and is therefore not suitable for use in cold weather. If you need somewhere to store bikes and pushchairs please ask us for a garage key when you arrive. 

 

Whilst Hanover Cottage is not specifically built for wheelchair access, it may still be suitable if you have restricted mobility as most of the ground floor is on one level. Welcome to Hanover Cottage, an impressive, 5-bedroom, detached house in the popular coastal resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire. We offer self-catering accommodation for up to 10 guests and provide everything needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Having started life as a small cottage in the 16th Century, Hanover Cottage was extended in Georgian and Victorian times to create the large house that stands today. Unusually for central Whitby, it has private driveway parking for 4 cars, a conservatory and beautiful enclosed gardens. Located conveniently on Prospect Hill, you can reach Pannet Park, the town centre and the harbourside by foot in 5 minutes and public transport is easily accessed nearby. It is an ideal place for friends and families to holiday together, whether it be for a mid-week break, long-weekend or a full week or more. You can spend time relaxing in the house and gardens and go out and explore all that Whitby has to offer.
